Karen Kresge
Karen Kresge is a graphic designer, professor of graphic design, and collage artist. She is a graduate of Kutztown University with a BFA in Communication Design. After many years in the field working in design studios in MD, DC, Philadelphia and NJ, she earned an MFA from Tyler School of Art. Karen has been teaching graphic design at Kutztown University since 1995. She teaches Intro to Typography, Advanced Typography, and Unconventional Typography regularly and has taught almost every other graphic design course from Digital Foundations to Portfolio Design in her 30 years at KU. For the past 10 years, she has been the coordinator of the Communication Design internship program. Professor Kresge is active as a freelance designer, working for a wide variety of clients creating branding, typography, lettering, illustration, and publication design. She has had her work included in Creative Quarterly, The Dieline, AIGA’s Eye on Design and How’s In-House Design Annual, among others. She has received Merit awards from the Graphis Poster annual. She has had her collages included in the “Paper Trails” exhibition, a show curated by Collage Philadelphia.
