Denise Bosler
Denise Bosler has been a member of the Communication Design Department since 2003. Her teaching responsibilities are primarily in Graphic Design, Illustration, Design History and MFA courses. Dr. Bosler holds an Ed.D. in Transformational Teaching and Learning from Kutztown University, M.F.A. in Design from Marywood University and a B.F.A. in Communication Design from Kutztown University. She is the Assistant Chair of the Department of Art & Design and the MFA Program Director.
Dr. Bosler’s research interests include the study of typography and current trends in graphic design. She was awarded a Kutztown University Research Grant to study the effects of typography in 20th and 21st-century logo design. Part of this research included studying the typography archives at the University of Reading, England. She is the author of Mastering Type: The Essential Guide to Typography for Print and Digital Design, 2025 (2013, 1st Edition) and Creative Anarchy, 2013, How Books. Professor Bosler has been a featured speaker at the HOW Design Live conferences and is a contributing writer for Communication Arts magazine, PRINTmag.com, and other graphic design-related blogs.
Dr. Bosler is the principal of an active freelance design business, BOSLER LLC. She focuses her design work on print collateral, product packaging, and identity development in both print and digital projects. She is dedicated to creating custom typography, which she brings to the work she creates for her clients. Dr. Bosler has produced numerous award-winning logo and packaging designs featuring hand-rendered and custom typography.
