Dannell MacIlwraith

Dannell MacIlwraith is an associate professor specializing in interactive design and graphic design, and her passion is collage. She holds a BA in Digital Art from Tyler School of Art, an M.Ed. in Art Education from Kutztown University, and an MFA in Graphic Design from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She teaches Digital Foundations and all Interactive Design courses in the BFA and MFA programs.
Beyond teaching, Dannell is actively involved in assessment and academic committees at the department, college, and university levels, ensuring curriculum and student experience excellence.
Her collage work has received international and national recognition, with awards from the UDA Annual International Design Competition, Horizon Interactive Awards, and Creative Quarterly. Her work was published in SHIFT by AIGA, Slanted magazine, and Mastering Type: The Essential Guide to Typography for Print and Web Design by Dr. Denise Bosler. She has exhibited in numerous juried shows, including at the John B. Aird Gallery (Toronto, Canada), Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), and The Reece Museum (East Tennessee State University).
With over 20 years of experience in web and interactive design, Dannell is passionate about creating digital experiences that are both visually compelling and user-friendly. She values pixel-perfect precision, intuitive user interfaces, and a strong foundation in graphic design.
Outside of her professional work, she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, experimenting with artistic practices, practicing yoga, and spending time with her husband, son, and rescue dog, Mallory Ting.
